Of An Important Part Lost

Posted by: eveie on: 20 October 2010

Siiiiggghhh…. :(

Had decided to upload my photos from the camera to my laptop just now. While waiting for the photos to be transferred, I was browsing through the photos in the hard disk and I realised that my there weren’t many photos of my poly days in the hard disk. Recalling that those were the days when even a pathetic 128mb thumbdrive costed a bomb, most of my photographs were burnt into cd-r’s. And so, I ended up digging out the cd booklet, and started flipping…

Saw quite a number of cd’s in the booklet and started to get quite excited in viewing them again. But to my utter dismay, most of the cd’s are not readable anymore. Only managed to retrieve like 20% of my poly stuff… Very sad… :(

My poly days, to me, were the best 3 years in my life.
- The Singapore River Lantern Festival, that had us staying overnight in the school workshop rushing to finish our Effiel Tower Lantern which ended up in flames (not that kind of dramatic effect that wer were looking for, but definately was dramatic enough in another way.)
- The countless years of participating in the Singapore River Raft Race, that had us spend most of our times in the workshop, sawing, nailing, painting away. And not forgetting the waiting till 8pm, when the swimming pool closes, the lights off, and that was our time, our time to load the rafts into the pool for our daily practise.
- The 3 weeks voluntary work in Vietnam, Hue, my first trip away from Singapore (apart from M’sia), my first oversea trip with dearie, my first trip w/out my family, my first time cooking for a group of 20.
- The paper ICQ days, which Siew Wun, Brina & I would write during lecture days.
- The bungalow building days, my first blueprint which dearie almost vomitted blood in teaching me to understand, my first “concrete” experience that resulted in peeling hands cos i didn’t wear gloves, the “rebar” cutting and bending.
- The Kota Tinggi trip, our “grad” trip to see the waterfalls, that ended up with 3 people going to the hospital.
- The surveying days, where the lecturer almost fainted seeing some of the other classmates holding umbrella while doing surveying.
- Mok, never failing to amuse us with his “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” from his 二胡.

And there’s so much more… So much more memories that now, only a small part is left to see… :(
